PRACTICAL TRAINING

Getting to know each other ...

establishing  trust ...

teaching ...

... and playing.

The Juergen - Wahn Foundation offers young people the opportunity for practical training at our project sites. This training can not be considered a substitute year for conscientious objectors doing community service.  JWF can only provide an unofficial confirmation of participation. So far JWF has provided practical trainings in Guatemala and Syria. Other possible projects to participate in are Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Difali-Animadi (Togo).

The will to help is not enough !

Your wish to help is your motivation, but there is more to bring in:

  • Language: Anyone who wants to work in a foreign country must be able to speak the language and must be willing to extend this knowledge during his/her stay.  The best preparation is to start with a language course in your country.

  • Communication Skills: The people in our projects are extroverted and open minded. We expect the same from our volonteers.  Are you outspoken, able to adapt and cooperative?  Can you accept constructive criticism?

  • Skills: Best preconditions for social engagement are educations in fields for helping or leading others.  Personal skills in sports, music or communication are desirable in helping to establish contact.

  • Stress: Social engagement at our international locations has nothing to do with a tourist holiday! You will be challenged in various ways with difficulties that may be new to you: foreign food, a different culture, customs and opinions, a different climate and little comfort.  You should demonstrate independence, although you feel homesick at times.

  • You will learn a lot about yourself facing these challanges in foreign countries and we encourage you to give it a try!  If you are interested in a practical training, please contact us.
