The new Water supply Défalé-Animadé

April 2002 :Delegates from the Juergen Wahn Foundation, participated at the inauguration of the new water tower in the village of Animade , which was made possible by our foundation in partnership with the german ministery of economical Co- workmanship . Financial help : 50.000 Euro .The villagers dug the trenches for the waterpipes by their own labor.

The silt up fountain was entirely renovated including a new hand-pump. The water is pushed up via pump into the tower using solar energy.
1100 Meters of waterpipes were built in addition to six pumping areas
The eintire village benefits from this new facility. A committee controls the water distribution. Those who can afford it, give a small contribution for their water. For the first time in their lives, women and children don't need to walk long distances carrying water uphill.

Tanz-75mm

Dances of joy

Dances of joy

The new water supply system was welcomed and celebrated with dances of joy. Everybody participated in the party with Jacques M’Bata, the local organizer. You can't imagine the happiness of the people. They didn't know whether they were dreaming or not. But it is true, the water is running! This means the world to them and makes their life so much easier.

Experience like this is encouraging us to continue our efforts, and continue our work.
